1 LBD, 3 Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just days away, do you have your costume picked out yet? If not, pull out your favorite LBD and try one of these easy costume ideas!

Feather Boa | Strappy Heels | Headband | Pearl Necklace | Cocktail Ring

One of my favorite past Halloween costumes is a flapper-- it's fun, retro, and glam. Simply add a feather boa, headband, and a long strand of pearls and you'll be dancing the Charleston all night long!

First off, how cute are those flats? This costume is another easy one as well-- using face paints (or better yet this awesome color palette from Make Up For Ever-- WANT!), draw whiskers and give yourself cat eyes with your liner. Add a pair of ears and a tail and you're good to go!

Keep your identity hidden at this year's party with a gorgeous mask-- did you know Pier 1 has masks? I had no clue, but they carry all sorts of masks in different colors. In keeping with the gold theme, add a standout statement necklace and a sparkling pair of glitter heels.

Please share, what are you dressing up as?

Four Favorites: Halloween Treats

With Halloween just around the corner (next week!), I wanted to share a few of my favorite sweet treats. Since I no longer trick-or-treat, I need to get my sugar fix in some way!

Halloween Compost Cookies: These cookies contain everything but the kitchen sink-- you name it, it's in there: Potato chips, coffee grinds, M&Ms... and much more. I made these last year and they are SO good, the perfect blend of salty and sweet, soft and crunchy. You can bet I'll be baking up a batch of these soon!

Caramel Apples: What's Halloween without a yummy, old fashioned caramel apple? I haven't tried this recipe yet, but anything coming out of Chef In Traning's kitchen is a must-eat!

Pumpkin White Chocolate Bars: Another recipe I tried last year and absolutely loved. Apparently everyone else did as well as these bars were gobbled up quicker than you could say trick-or-....

Reese's Pieces Soft Peanut Butter Cookies: I'll let those words sink in for a minute. Do I really need to say more?

Fall Style: Ponchos & Pumpkins

Last Sunday, Steve and I drove out to Oak Glen, a small town in the Beaumont/Yucaipa area. On fall weekends this place gets packed, especially when it's apple picking season. Unfortunately, apple picking had stopped that day before but we weren't there for apples-- I wanted a pumpkin!

Since it was chillier out there than at home, I wore my new BB Dakota poncho I scored from Hautelook... I absolutely love it! Felt like I had a warm blanket wrapped around me the entire day. Speaking of amazing deals, I picked up this pair of light wash Paige Denim jeans at Buffalo Exchange a couple of years ago... new, with tags $14! Great finds like these make you feel that all is right in the crazy world.

Picking out my pumpkin! Check out my cheesy posing below...

Have you visited the pumpkin patch or gone apple picking this year?

Four Favorites: Halloween

Halloween is my favorite holiday next to Christmas-- I love pumpkins (and pumpkin flavor everything!), spooky decorations, candy and yummy sweets, dressing up in fun costumes-- anything and everything having to do with Halloween!

Here are a few Halloween favorites to get you in a festive mood:

Yummy Treats: I will be making these delicious looking Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcakes with Pumpkin Spice Brown Butter Frosting for our office Halloween potluck on Friday.

Decorations: I have been fun decorating my apartment for Halloween this year-- pumpkins have invaded! We have a fireplace so I gave the mantel a fall/spooky makeover-- complete with candles, mini pumpkins, a skull, and potion bottle. Oh, and I can't forget the super cute candy corn lights!

Pumpkin Carving: I have no clue how I'll be carving/decorating my pumpkin this year yet... usually I just grab one of those dotted designs, I'm not exactly a skilled carver :/

Halloween Parties: I love a good Halloween party and luckily have at least one to attend each year. This year, I'll be dressing up as the Black Swan and like most years, am most excited for the costume. How cool will that eye makeup be?!

Bootie Call: Best of Fall 2013

Booties are a staple for fall wardrobes... scratch that.. I have a pair I wear year round! With so many versatile styles, it's an easy trend to wear. If you haven't jumped on the bootie bandwagon by now, there's no hope left for you. Kidding! But, you really should. Here are a few of my favorite pairs:

Which one of these pairs is calling your name?

Sale Alert: Kate Spade Outlets, J. Crew Factory, Urban Decay, and More!

There are some major sales happening right now that you do NOT want to miss out on! I've already got a wish list going of my favorites below... early Christmas presents, anyone?

Kate Spade New York

Now through Monday Oct. 14, Kate Spade outlets are offering 50% off (!!!) on all handbags and wallets, and an extra 20% off on all clearance items. Anyone down for a road trip to Cabazon outlets Saturday morning?

Click here to find a Kate Spade Outlet closest to you

J. Crew Factory
I have never been a huge J. Crew fan, however after attending a meet-up at J. Crew Factory several months ago with a few bloggers who are obsessed (:cough: Meg and Kat :cough:), I've been finding myself browsing through J. Crew's sites. In honor of their first birthday, J. Crew Factory is offering 50% off on everything... yes, EVERYTHING on the site, including new arrivals. Nice!

My favorites: Plaid A- Line Mini Skirt, this adorable Bow Sweater, and this comfy, blinged out Jeweled Sweatshirt

Urban Decay
I've had myself on a makeup no-buy for months, unless it is absolutely necessary. I think a 20% off Urban Decay sale counts as necessary. Ends Oct. 12.

My Top Picks: Naked 2 Palette, makeup bag musts- Primer Potion Duo, and Glide on Eye Pencil (black liner is most definitely a necessity!)

Jonathan Adler
Interior design fav Jonathan Adler is offering 20% off site-wide through Monday, Oct. 14. I have a pair of kitty bookends that I received for Chrismas last year but I would love to have more Adler designs in my life.

Here are a few of my JA favorites, all under $50: A cool, funky Urchin Vase, patterned Dunbar Road iPhone Case, the Mr. & Mrs. Muse Reversible Mug

Max & Chloe
Jewelry retailer Max & Chloe is offering 20% off in honor of Columbus Day now through Tuesday, Oct. 15. While I could browse through jewelry all day everyday (um, what girl wouldn't?!?) I found a few pieces that would definitely do quite well in my growing collection.

How adorable is this broken heart ring from Blu Bijoux? Also loving this Etticka Golden Spike Bracelet and Ariel Gordon Love Knot Ring.

Have you spotted any other amazing sales going on this weekend?

Rainy Day Casual

Definitely NOT my best photos but we wanted to take a couple before it started raining again (yes, actual rain!) and I wanted to show off the SUPER cute boots I bought while Target had their BOGO 50% sale! I had been looking for a pair of brown combat-style boots and when I saw these I couldn't resist-- they fold down and snap to three different lengths, today I have them folded all the way down, and I absolutely love the zipper in the back... which I apparently didn't get a photo of. Perfect boots for a rainy day!

I have had this Meredith Kahn (Made Her Think) for mark. ring for several years now but it's one of my go-to favorites. I love it so much, I had to get one in silver as well!

Four Favorites: Random

I am very excited this week to be co-hosting Four Favorites with two amazing bloggers, Kristin of Fancy Things and Ashlyn of Let It Be Beautiful. This week is all about random favorites so I wanted to share a few of my October favorites:

1. Since moving into this apartment back in February, I have been on the hunt for a tall print to display on the mantel. Currently, I have a canvas with a sketch of a dress but I think it's too girly (surprisingly, Steve has never complained about it!). I came across this simple print on Society 6 a couple of weeks ago-- the fall colors are gorgeous and while it's feminine, it's not ultra girly.
Tracie Andrews Fleur Art Print

2. My current wallet has not been zipping properly so I'm taking that as an excuse to treat myself to a new one and this gorgeous striped Kate Spade wallet has been on my radar. Now if only I had the money in my wallet to actually buy it...
Kate Spade Harrison Street Stripe Lacey

3. As the weather finally cools out here in SoCal, a warm, cozy throw to wrap myself in is a must. On a related note, why are cable-knit throws so expensive?
Threshold Chenile Throw

4. I recently heard of a new beauty line, Sunday Riley, currently sold at Sephora, and became smitten with this nude-coral-pink shade. Also loving the sleek gold packaging.

What are some of your favorites this month?

Also linking up with Random Wednesday & Friday's Fab Favorites

The Four Favorites link-up is held on Wednesdays and there aren't any rules, but we would really appreciate it if you followed your hosts Ashlyn + Kristin and also share the button on your Four Favorites post! Have fun with it + spread the word!

Good HUES- Day: Oxblood For Fall

One of last year's hottest trends for fall is back again this year-- oxblood! While the name may be a bit creepy, the color is gorgeous-- a deep, dramatic burgundy red-- and has become a staple in my fall wardrobe. If you're new to the trend, try to incorporate oxblood in your look however you can-- wear it, carry it, or apply on your nails or lips! Shop a few of my favorites:

Are you a fan of oxblood?

Easy Pumpkin Pancakes

Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin mufins ...everything has pumpkin in it this season. Not that it's a bad thing, it's SO good, everything is just better with some pumpkin added! If you hate to cook and are no master chef but are just dying for a plate of pumpkin pancakes, then this easy pumpkin pancake recipe is for you. Using a boxed pancake mix, canned pumpkin, and simple spices (pumpkin pie spice has it all in one: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice) then topped with a decadent splash of warm vanilla butter syrup... your mouth won't know what hit it!

Easy Pumpkin Pancakes with Vanilla Butter Syrup
Makes about 4 - 6 pancakes
1 cup Pancake Mix
1/3 - 1/2 cup Water
1/2 can Pumpkin Puree
1-2 tsps. Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 cup Syrup (your favorite store brand is fine)
1/2 tsp. Pure Vanilla extract
1 tbs. Unsalted Butter

Mix pancake mix, water, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice in bowl by hand until well-combined. Heat pan and melt a little butter, coating pan. Pour in batter, filling about 2/3 of pan-- use less for smaller pancakes and more for larger pancakes.

For the vanilla butter syrup, simply combine the syrup, vanilla, and 1/2 tbs butter in microwaveable dish. Heat for about 30 seconds to melt belt and stir. Heat additional 30 seconds at 15 second intervals.

When bubbles form along the edges, you're ready to flip! Once done cooking the other side, remove to plate drizzling warmed Vanilla Butter Syrup all over your pumpkin pancake stack and get to munching... these won't last long!

Happy eats :)

Sheer Thing

Did you catch Target's Buy One Get One 50% Off on all women's shoes last week?!? I picked up a cute pair of boots (which will soon be featured!) and received 50% off on these chunky leopard heels... which I am totally in love it! From my past posts you'll read that I noted I was never a huge fan of leopard but these heels have me singing a different tune.

Another one of my trend loves? Sheer! This has become one of my favorite tops-- I'll wear a simple black cami underneath for work, but when going out I'll wear a black, lace bralette underneath to add a little sexiness ;)

While taking these photos, we had accidentally managed to set a filter on them... but they came out kind of cool so I let it be.
