As the holiday season comes to an end, for many of us so does the over eating, snacking, and sweet comas...well, save for the few cookies and chocolates left laying around. Resolutions of dieting, holiday detox, losing weight, exercise and overall better eating habits come about. To get a head start and detoxify from all the holiday sweets, I juiced up a batch of CABO juice.
Not to be confused with the sandy shores of Baja Mexico, where I can wishfully visualize myself as I'm writing this. Based on the CAB juice from my 3-day juice cleanse, the CABO juice combines the fall/winter flavors of carrots, apples, orange and of beets, which have an extremely strong root flavor, very Earth-y. The carrots and fruits add a sweet, refreshing flavor to the beets making this juice very easy to drink-- perfect for a morning juice or just when you need a healthy pick-me-up!
2 Carrots, peeled & cut
2 Apples (Gala, Red, or Fuji are best), cut and cored
1 large or 2 small Beets
1 Naval Orange (I substituted with a few cuties), peeled
Juice from half a lemon
Peel and cut veggies and fruits as required for juicing. Juice all together, adding the juice of half a lemon, and enjoy!
For even more detox benefits, juice a 1-2 inch nub of ginger. To drink this as a smoothie, add 1 banana, 1-2 tablespoons of chia or flax seeds, and about 1/3 cup of Greek yogurt. Blend with ice.
