Like many people, I start every morning the same way, with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. I don't have a fancy espresso maker, just a regular ol' coffee machine I use to make my brew. During the week I typically add vanilla flavored creamer and I'm good to go but when I have more time on the weekends, I like to bring the coffeehouse taste to my apartment and create a latte.
I usually reach for darker roasts with bolder flavors, such as French Roast. I am currently loving the samples I received recently from Community Coffee
-- the coffee is smooth, flavorful and is good with milk or creamer and is just as delicious served black. I received the ground Cafe Special, French Roast, Dark Roast, and Breakfast Blend whole beans and can taste the quality in every cup with strong, fresh flavors done right. The Cafe Special is a medium-roast coffee, but delivers a wonderful taste with no bitterness. I prefer the darker roasts-- they are the perfect morning wake-up!
Community Coffee has a rich history dating back to 1919 and is family owned and operated. The company not only prides itself on its values and quality coffee made with 100% Arabica coffee beans, but gives back
to the community with programs that support schools, coffee farmers, and the U.S. Military.
Below is an easy recipe to make your own Cafe Latte (if using espresso) or Cafe au Lait (coffee with milk) using Community Coffee at home:
Cafe Latte/ Cafe au Lait
1 cup Community Coffee (I prefer French Roast or Dark Roast), freshly brewed, double strength
1/2 cup Milk
Sugar or flavored coffee syrup to taste
Heat milk in saucepan on stove top to about 150-160 degrees (if you have a thermometer), being careful not to scald. Using a milk frother (I have this one from Ikea), froth the milk until bubbles rise, making it as foamy as you'd like. Pour the milk, along with sugar or other flavored syrup to coffee, spooning foam over the top.
Sit back, sip and enjoy!
