Romper Chic

Romper: Target | Blazer: Forever 21 | Bag: Tory Burch | Necklace: Wanderlust & Co. | Bracelet: Stella & DotLips: NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Rock Star

I am super excited to be leaving for Charleston, South Carolina for the Southern Blog Society Conference (I'll be working a booth there so if you're attending be sure to stop by and say 'hi'!). I'll be staying a few extra days to explore the city, and take a day trip down to Savannah as well. I can't wait for some real southern sweet tea, mint juleps & good food. Oh, and of course the unbelievably adorable southern architecture and sights. I'll have to post a recap when I return.

I already know I will be super impressed with how the southern ladies dress-- they always look so good, with the cutest outfits and in fun colors. Today's look is a bit black and white, but I added some bright red lipstick to make it pop.

See how I styled this same romper here!

PS- This is one of the last looks you'll see of me with long hair for awhile, I decided to lob it! You can see my new look over on Instagram

Summer Reading List

A Good Hue's Summer Reading List

There's two seasons to me that are just perfect for reading: Winter, it's just so cozy to wrap up in a blanket and read; and summer, because there's basically nothing better to do than lay out in the sun (or in your AC'd living room!) and read all day. Amiright?

Today I'm sharing a couple of my summer reading lists with you-- books I've read that I think you would love and a few that are on my to-read list for this summer. Here's a few of my top recommendations:

Paper Towns, John Green
Yes, as in the new movie starring Miss Brows herself, Cara Delavigne about the wild, carefree girl-next-door who disappears and the awkward boy who makes it his mission to find her, but ends up truly finding himself. Truth be told, I couldn't put this down.

Plus, the whole concept of paper towns was actually pretty interesting to. #NerdAlert

Scent of Triumph, Jan Moran
If you love historical fiction, love stories, and perfume then you will love this book. Set though WWII in Europe, the story follows French perfumer Danielle Bretancourt as she searches for her family lost during the war, as she flees to Hollywood to start her own fragrance and fashion lines, with romance thrown in. The story was captivating and I enjoyed it-- definitely recommend this one!

Attachments, Rainbow Rowell
I absolutely loved Eleanor & Park so I couldn't wait to get my hands on another Rainbow Rowell novel. The main character, Lincoln, works at the local newspaper's IT department as an 'internet security officer' monitoring employee emails. He gets wrapped up reading the uber-personal office email exchanges between two other employees, Beth and Jennifer, one of whom he eventually starts crushing on. Another super cute story and a fun read!

As a side note, I hope the IT team at my office has better things to do than read my emails... but then again, mine probably aren't very interesting anyway!

Shopaholic to the Stars, Sophia Kinsella
Crazy Becky Brandon is back at with her crazy shopping shenanigans but this time in Hollywood! As someone who hates to love the main character, I cannot stop reading this series. This is a perfect beach vacation or poolside read!

The Knockoff, Lucy Sykes & Jo Piazza
"An outrageously stylish, wickedly funny novel of fashion in the digital age, The Knockoff is the story of Imogen Tate, editor in chief of Glossy magazine, who finds her twentysomething former assistant Eve Morton plotting to knock Imogen off her pedestal, take over her job, and reduce the magazine, famous for its lavish 768-page September issue, into an app." -Goodreads

Fashion? Internet? Cat fights? This one sounds like it's right up my alley!

Summer Secrets, Jane Green
"a story of one woman struggling to right the wrongs of her past, with even more complications in the present." - Goodreads
I have always enjoyed Jane Green books and I'm sure this will be no exception!

At the Water's Edge, Sara Gruen

From the author of Water For Elephants, "a gripping and poignant love story about a privileged young woman’s personal awakening as she experiences the devastations of World War II in a Scottish Highlands village."

Another WWII-era historical fiction, I am excited to read this one as the story sounds so interesting (an adventure to hunt down the Loch Ness Monster, wha?!). I loved Water for Elephants so I'm sure this one will be golden as well.

Dark Places, Gilian Flynn
The story follows Libby who was just seven years old when her evidence put her fifteen-year-old brother behind bars. Now it's 24 years later she starts questioning if what she heard is really what happened. Sounds like another Another suspenseful, must-read from Gilian Flynn, author of Gone Girl.

What's on your summer reading list? Or, have you read any good books lately? Share!

PS- Stay tuned on Instagram for a big change coming tonight! If you're not already following me, um why not?!? :P

Denim on Denim

American Eagle Denim Shorts

Swell Caroline Necklace

Chambray shirt

Stella & Dot Wanderer Cuff

Swell Caroline Serena Necklace

I had a fun few days up in Yosemite-- SO gorgeous up there! I will definitely be sharing pics in the next couple of days. If you've been thinking about planning a trip there you should definitely go. Now, back to reality!

Denim on denim can be tricky to pull off-- if done wrong it can look super dated (think bad '80s!) but when done right can look really cool! I didn't want my denim on denim outfit to be boring so of course I had to glam it up with a gorgeous statement necklace-- I love how the pretty peachy pink looks against the denim!

Okay, your turn, would you ever wear denim on denim?

Cute & Casual

Denim Jacket: H&M (similar option)  | Skirt: Express (similar options here and here) | Booties: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls | Bracelets & Necklace: Stella & Dot | Fedora Ross (similar option)

Printed skirts are a fun style year round but my favorite time to wear them is in the summer-- especially when they're bright and splashy like this one! I picked this skirt up years ago while interning in NYC and every year it continues to make its way to the front of my closet when summer starts rolling in. My favorite way to wear it is with a regular plain white tee and my fav denim jacket-- casual AND cute! I spruced it up with some new accessories (including a fedora I 'stole' from my mom!) and of course, my new booties that I just HAD to feature again... I couldn't help it!

Do you have any favorite summer pieces?

Review + GIVEAWAY: butter LONDON's Shine Out Loud Collection

You may already be a fan of butter LONDON's gorgeously bold nail lacquers and lip glosses but did you know they now carry an entire line of cosmetics? Their team recently sent me products from their new Shine Out Loud collection for review, which includes products that deliver a "lacquer-like shine with high-fashion colour" (don't you just love the British spelling of words like 'colour?' Fancy!) to create a rock star statement look with bold color.  Read more for my review, plus, keep scrolling for a giveaway to win your own Shine Out Loud set! Here's what I think:

I love a pretty pop of color on my lips and nails for summer and butter LONDON's nail lacquer in Ladybird ($15) and their new Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon ($20) in the same shade is the perfect, fun red/coral shade to take you all the way through to fall. The shade is a bright tomato red-orange that looks fantastic on both nails and lips. I've been a fan of their nail collection for some time, the lacquers apply smoothly and evenly. Thia can be said for the lip crayon as well-- it is buttery soft and creamy, applying easily and beautifully, leaving a high-shine finish. It has a long-wear, although I do have to reapply after eating or drinking. It's the perfect shade for those who aren't ready to go for a deeper red, in fact I personally prefer this warmer red over a true cooler red. At $20, the price point may be a little steep, however the color payoff is so worth it. Plus, it also has a built-in sharpener in the cap!

When I first pulled the wand out of the mascara tube, I thought 'WHOA! This looks intense!" The brush tip of the Iconoclast Mega Volume Lacquer Mascara in Brilliant Black ($20) has a rounded ball-tiped end that works perfectly for getting the small inner-corner lashes and bottom lashes. I am a sucker for a good volumizing mascara-- one that plumps up my lashes without leaving clumps- and this one definitely delivers the drama.

The WINK Eye Pencil in Union Jack ($18) is definitely earning it's way into my top eyeliner picks-- it is a soft pencil that glides on smoothly, is a high-intensity black, and while it is smudgeable for a smokey eye, has true staying power. The color and formula is so smooth. almost like a liquid, and can be used to create an easy cat-eye look or precise definition. The only con I have with it is that it may be too soft for some and may break easily. So far, I personally haven't had any problems with breakage when applying or with sharpening.

Have you tried butter LONDON's new cosmetics line? Let me know how you #ShineOutLoud!

You can find these products and more at www.butterlondon.com, Ulta, Amazon, and more.

Now, here's your chance to win a butter LONDON set of your own! Enter the Rafflecopter form below to win a set that includes Ladybird Nail Lacquer, Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Ladybird, Iconoclast Mega Volume Lacquer Mascara in Brilliant Black and WINK Eye Pencil in Union Jack Black. Good luck! Ends Friday June 12 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Navy + Cognac

Navy and cognag outfit

Navy and Cognac

LC Lauren Conrad Booties

Amanda A Good Hue

Dress: Ruche (similar) | Booties: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls | Bag: Tory Burch | Sunglasses: Target | Jewelry: Stella & Dot | Skimmies: Jockey

I think I'm in love... no, OBSESSED. I spotted these adorable cognac booties on Instagram and knew they had to be mine. I took a lunch trip to Kohls this week with my fingers crossed that they had them in my size. When I got to the store, there were NONE on the display shelf-- noOoOoOo! I started digging around in the boxes because I don't give up that easy. I came across a pair... well no, one shoe... in the cognac shade but it was half a size too small. Boo! I dug around some more and came upon a pair in black that was the right size. Even though I REALLY wanted the cognac shade, I tried them on anyways but they were slightly too big. So the smaller size would work! The only problem? There was just one shoe and the other was nowhere in that area. I held on to the one shoe and started walking down the aisles, lo and behold I found it randomly sitting by itself on a bottom shelf. Mine!

Speaking of good finds, it never fails-- the day I wear a cute little dress or a skirt, a breeze will come by throwing it up. I would typically wear a pair of bootie shorts but then I get the dreaded VPLs-- I just can't win! Luckily, I received a pair of Jockey Skimmie Slipshorts, which are perfect to wear under dresses, skirts, even yoga pants if you need a little extra support. They smooth out lines so no more VPLs for this gal, AND when my skirt flys up, there's nothing showing that shouldn't be.
