Breakfast To-Go: Berry Granola Parfait

Easy Berry Granola Parfait

Berry Granola Parfait

I love my morning breakfast smoothies but sometimes I need a little break from them but still want something on the healthy side... and something I can eat quickly or on-the-go. This base of this parfait is packed with antioxidant rich berries and is so yummy topped with creamy yogurt, crunchy granola and fresh fruit. Mmmm!

Berry Granola Parfait
Ingredients
1 cup Frozen Mixed Berries
1/4 cup Water
1/2 - 1 tbsp Honey
Vanilla Greek Yogurt or Chia Seed Pudding (try this recipe)
Granola
Fresh Fruit: I used raspberries and a banana but you can change it up- kiwi, blueberries, nectarines, peaches, strawberries- whatever you like!

Puree the frozen mixed berries, water and honey in blender. Once smooth, pour into glasses and refrigerate to set. After about 10 minutes, add a couple of scoops of yogurt over the berry mixture. Top with granola and fruit and you are good to go!

Good HUES-Day: Fall Denim

2015 Fall Denim Trends
Hart Denim 'Malli Rox' Flare Leg Jeans  | Articles of Society 'Faith' Flare Jeans | Topshop Moto A-Line Denim Miniskirt | New Look Petite Denim Shirt Dress

If there's one trend that's become most apparent for fall, it's denim and not just jeans. You'll find that denim skirts and even shirt dresses are tremding and the popular chambray isn't going anywhere either.  For jean lovers, flares are back in a big way!

How are you wearing denim this season?

Makeup Monday:butter London Shadow Clutch Review

butter London Shadow Clutch Review

Do you recall the post from a few months ago where I had announced that nail brand butter London was branching out to color cosmetics? They have been adding more and more to their color cosmetics collection and you can bet this girl is so glad they are-- the products are nothing short of amazing.

One of the newest items is the ShadowClutch, a palette filled with 6 gorgeous shades and the best part? It's customizable! You can pop out the existing shades and pop-in a different shade from bL's Wardrobe Duos collection. For the past week I've been using the ShadowClutch in Natural Charm, which is filled with pretty, rich earthy neutral shades: Linen (matte vanilla), Quartz (gold-beige sheen), Camo (khaki sheen), Camel (matte nude), Citrine (soft coral sheen), and Leather (deep matte brown).

The shadows themselves are infused with primer (whaaaaaaaaaat?!) so it takes out the step of having to add primer. The shadows apply smoothly, with bold pigmentation-- I've been experimenting with a deep brown smoky eye, a soft coral look with winged liner, and a simple nude eye look.

Have you tried anything from butter London's cosmetic line?

Recipe: Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Overnight slow cooker apple butter

Apple Butter and Biscuits

Aside from pumpkin, apple is another undeniably fall flavor favorite and that includes apple butter. Sweet, tart and insanely yummy, apple butter is perfect to add on biscuits, pancakes, crepes, pork chops, ice cream, these apple butter rolls... or just eat it by the spoonful. I won't tell!

The best way to make apple butter, at least in my opinion, is overnight in the slow cooker. It makes the house smell absolutely amazing and it's basically ready for you when you get up! What could be easier? Follow these simple steps below:

Apple Butter
Ingredients
8-10 Apples (I used a mix of Granny Smith, Gala and Red Delicious), peeled, cored and sliced/cubed
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/8 tsp Cloves
1/8 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla

Place the peeled, cored and sliced apples in your slow cooker. In a bowl, whisk together the sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Sprinkle over the apples and stir to coat. Cook the apple mixture on low for 10 hours.

After 10 hours, stir in the vanilla and break up any large chunks of apple. Replace lid and cook an additional 2 hours. If you want a thicker apple butter, leave the lid ajar so the steam can escape. Puree the apple mixture using an immersion blender or food processor. If you'd like it thicker, you can leave in the slow cooker on low for longer, otherwise let it cool and then transfer to jars.

Keep in the fridge for up to two weeks or freeze. Enjoy!

Hats Off to Fall!

It's been one of those weeks. Not that anything bad has happened, I just feel kind of ick (crampy- you know how that goes) and just out of sorts. I am excited that we're in that summers-over-let's-transition-to-fall phase, it means I'm able to wear booties again! I mean, technically it's still been too hot to wear actual shoes but that doesn't stop me. Plus, the office is freeeeezing so I can at least pretend it's fall in here.

I'm also able to pull out one of my other fall favorites-- this cute lil burgundy fedora I've had for years. See how I wore it last year!

Is your wardrobe making the transition to Autumn yet? Share!

Good HUES-Day: Smoky Eyes

Easy steps for smoky eyes
Tory Burch Cat's Meow Eye Shadow Palette |Nars Eye Shadow in Night Clubbing | Estée Lauder
'Magic Smoky' Powder Shadow Stick in Burnt Black | Diorshow Black Out Mascara | Bobbi Brown
Dual-Ended Eye Liner/Smokey Eye Liner Brush

One of my all-time favorite makeup looks is a classic smoky eye. Whether it's black, grey, brown or deep purples or greens, you can experiment using shadows and liners to have some fun with your smoky eye and the best part about this look? You can't really mess up- just smudge it out!

Here's my easy steps to get a smoky eye look:

1. Apply pencil liner to your top lash line-- it's okay if it's not a perfect line. Take a smudger brush and smudge it up onto your lid.

2. Sweep a dark shadow over your lid and up into the crease. To make the smoky eye standout, I blend a brown eye shadow into my crease. Apply a light shadow shade to brow bone and to inner corners of eyes to highlight.

3. Apply liner to bottom lash line and softly smudge. Apply a couple coats of mascara to finish the look.

Tell me, are you a fan of smoky eyes?

Let's talk bras. I think most women have a love-hate relationship with bras, at least I know I do. It's hard to find The One- perfect fit, comfortable, and makes the chest look amazing (aka like I actually have something there! #smallboobproblems). When shopping for a new bra, I usually stick to a certain retailer that specializes in this but honestly, I've only found one there that I like but it definitely has its issues: the straps are always coming off and if there's a lace pattern on it, it doesn't look good when I wear sheer tops or tees. I recently received the Sunnie Pushup Bra from Aerie-- I had my reservations since the company doesn't specialize in bras but it turned out to be fantastic. It's comfortable... like really comfortable... it gives my little ones a (much needed!) boost, the straps stay put and it the soft, smooth surface looks great under all my tops, including tees!

Speaking of tees, just simply adding some fun accessories and cute heels can take everyday jeans and tee look to a whole new level. I love the glam touch that this statement necklace (I've had this for years! mark. girls, do you recognize this one?) adds, along with my favorite pair of strappy sandals. Luckily I'm in Southern Cali so these heels can stay in rotation for several more weeks.

How do you perk up a simple outfit?

Butter London x Allure Arm Candy Collection for Fall

This week I'm doing things a little different for Good HUES-Day as I wanted to show off an exciting new collaboration for fall with the new, limited edition butter London x Allure Arm Candy Nail Lacquer Collection!

You'll find the right shade & finish for you with one of these 6 trendy and fashionable nail colors, all perfect for the fall season. The collection includes Nude Stilettos (creamy, sheer nude pink),  Statement Piece (a fun opaque orange-red), I'm On The List (a metallic rose-gold-- LOVE this shade!), It's Vintage (opaque rust- super gorgeous and so different!), Disco Nap (a funky charcoal glitter shade), and Lust or Must? (opaque creamy charcoal brown-featured in pic above).

I'm already a huge fan of butter LONDON polishes as they are quality, long-lasting, high-shine and amazing color options. The hard part? Trying to decide which shade to wear first!

Are your nails fall-ready? Let me know which shade you're rocking!

Get the Look: LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection

LC Runway Makeup Look

LC Runway Makeup Look

LC Runway Makeup Look with it Cosmetics

Last week, Lauren Conrad made her NYFW debut with her new LC Runway collection and while the clothes are super cute, it's the makeup that stood out to me! I caught an article on PopSugar where makeup artist Amy Nadine shared her inspiration for the pretty, feminine runway show looks as well as her tips on how to achieve the look... you know I had to recreate it!

Read below for how I got the makeup look and then head over to Kohl's ASAP to check out the full LC Runway collection!

Eyes: Using iT Cosmetics' Naturally Pretty Eye Shadow Palette, I created a soft and feminine eye look with a mauve-rust shade in the crease (All Heart and Soulful)  and light, off-white shade (Sheer Joy) on lid and brow bone to highlight. I then applied a copper-taupe shade (Sunrise) along the bottom lash line and applied the transforming pearl on the inner corners and a touch to center of the lid to add dimension. I used a taupe-brown kohl liner to line the outer corners of my top lids and inner rims and then applied a super thin coat of mascara. I kept brows natural by slightly filling in the inner portion with soft feathered strokes and brushing them up.

Cheeks: I applied iT Cosmetics Hello Light Creme Luminizing Stick to highlight my cheeks and a soft sweep of color using Physicians Formula City Glow Daily Defense Bronzer in New York. No deep contouring or bronzing for this look, but my cheeks need some color to look alive and this bronzer has been in heavy rotation... plus it has the cutest NYC design!

Lips: I wanted a pretty and natural pink pout with sara happ One Luxe Gloss in The Pink.

Vita Liberata Self-Tan Review + GIVEAWAY

Summer may be winding down but it doesn't mean your tan has to. If you recall my self-tanning series from last year I'm a big fan of safer, sunless tanning and some of my favorite self tan products come from Vita Liberata. The company specializes in luxury tanning products, known for their innovation and for having the longest lasting self-tan products. In my book, one of their best innovations is their Odour Remove technology, which takes out that icky, self-tanner smell.

Read on for the scoop on their pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse!

As mentioned, I've tried several self-tan products and the pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse is definitely in my top 3, if not my absolute top pick! I use a tan mitt to evenly and easily apply the mousse for a streak-free finish. The color starts developing quickly, there's no smell, and the formula dries quickly leaving no trace of tanner on my clothes

The formula contains organic botanicals which help to hydrate and moisturize skin. The tan lasts up to 2 or 3 weeks and looks completely natural!

At the beginning of this review, I mentioned that the company is known for their innovative products and one of their newest innovations is the Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask, which is an overnight facial tanner with anti-aging properties resulting in a gorgeous glow by morning! I haven't tried it yet, but I'm giving you the chance to. Keep scrolling below for giveaway details!

G I V E A W A Y

I'm giving away a set including both Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse and Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask ($91 value!)-- head over to my Instagram @angoodhue on 9/10 and follow the entry directions on the same photo of the set below. Ends Sunday 9/13 11:59 p.m. PST.

Good luck!

Good HUES-Day: Good Hair Day

On a recent visit to my hair stylist, she remarked that my hair had no split ends and looked healthy-- she attributed it to the "good" products I was using. Here is what I have been currently using in my hair care routine:

1. Detangler: I've been using another detangler for the last few weeks and while it's not bad, I had really liked the Not Your Mother's Knotty to Nice Conditioning Detangler (on sale- buy one get one 50% off!) and think I'll be going back to that very soon.

2. Texturizing Hair Cream: I don't use much styling product in my hair but I've really been loving Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Hair Cream. I use it to get beachy waves as it keeps my waves lasting throughout the day. If I don't use this cream, my hair falls flat and straight within a few hours. Seriously, I am all over Not Your Mother's right now (and no this isn't sponsored!)

3. Shampoo & Conditioner: I received the Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo and Conditioner last month and have been hooked. Not only does my hair feel clean, but it has helped cut down on any frizz and pesky flyaways. I've also been using the Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force, a heat protector and smoothing spray that keeps my style looking straight and perfect. Plus, it's sulfate-free so it's safe for color treated hair. Woo-hoo!

4. Deep Conditioner: Every other hair wash I also use a deep conditioner or hair mask to help restore and revitalize my locks. Right now, I am crushing on Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner (on sale- buy one get one 50% off!). It leaves my hair feeling super silky soft and smelling amazing!

5. Dry Shampoo: Dry shampoo is a must for those days when you know you need to wash your hair but you either A) Can't or B) Won't due to ultra laziness. I know, I've been there. I have been addicted to Rusk Deepshine Color Care Invisible Dry Shampoo. It absorbs any extra oil or greasiness, is safe for color treated hair and leaves hair with a soft, powdery fresh scent.

Graphic Remix

Shorts: Forever 21 | Sheer Blouse: (similar option) | Heels: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls (on sale!) | Bag: Tory Burch | Necklace: Maya Brenner Designs

You may remember these shorts from a post at #SBSCon in Charleston a few months back-- I wanted to wear them again and show how easy it is to start transitioning summer favorites to fall. This time, I opted for a longer-sleeved blouse with a simple tank underneath, a great choice for the days going into fall that are still warm. Instead of wedges, I went with these open toe heels as they have a bootie vibe but still a great choice for the warmer weather... and for showing off your new fall pedi!

How do you transition your favorite pieces to fall?
