In the past couple of years, the Korean beauty industry has blown up. Known for innovative cosmetics and skin care with unique ingredients, cute packaging and new technologies, Korean beauty has become immensely popular. BB Creams, first made popular in Korea, are now a staple here in American markets, and cushion compact technology has started to catch on as well.
While browsing online one day, I say that Ulta Beauty now carries TonyMoly, a popular Korean brand. I couldn't resist picking up a few items, click 'Read More' to find out what I thought...
First off, can we take a moment to appreciate the cuteness and fun-ness (is that a word?) of the packaging? I picked out a couple of I'm Real facial mask sheets and of course, I had to get the panda eye stick. Oh, and a banana hand milk because um, it totally looks like a mini banana! Cool fact- "Tony Moly" roughly translates to 'stylish packaging' so it totally makes sense.
The Magic Food Banana Hand Milk, which is basically a hand cream with banana extract, shea butter and milk proteins that helps to moisturize and smooth the skin. Have you ever had banana taffy? Or a banana Now & Later? That is exactly what this hand milk smells like! I liked that the hand milk leaves my hands feeling hydrated but not greasy. With the strong banana scent and the adorable packaging, it's definitely different from any other type of lotion I have ever used.
I tried the I'm Real Avocado Mask Sheet the other night, which as the name and packaging suggests, is formulated with avocado extract. Sheet masks are pretty neat as it is an individually wrapped mask that is completely saturated with the product. You simply place it over your clean face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. After I took it off, my skin felt smooth and moisturized-- my cheeks especially have been super dry this season-- without feeling greasy or oily. I have combination skin and felt that it worked well to give my face some TLC.
I also picked up the I'm Real Makgeoli Mask Sheet, which is supposed to be extremely hydrating. This mask is infused with aloe extract and makgeoli, a Korean rice liquor, which help to brighten skin while providing moisturization.
I think my favorite item that I've tried is the Panda's Dream So Cool Eye Stick, which is a cooling eye serum in a balmy stick form that helps to smooth and de-puff the under eye area. I don't typically have an issue with puffiness, but the cooling effect does help to give my eyes a more 'awake' feeling in the morning and smooth out the skin and any noticeable fine lines (eeks!). The product is formulated with bamboo extracts which helps to hydrate the skin as well, and allows the product to apply smoothly as easily in the delicate eye area.
