Makeup Monday: Minimal Makeup Routine

Minimal Makeup Routine

I have a teeny obsession with makeup and beauty products, nothing serious, just a stash of powders, cream, shadows, liners and highlighters. Always highlighters. For as many products as I own though, many days I like to keep it simple, natural, and minimal. Here's how I created a minimal look using just five products>>

Lace Up + Good HUES-Day Linkup

Spring sweater and blush lace up flats | A Good Hue

Ugh, is this time change messing with anyone else?? It has been so hard to get up in the morning, especially since it's basically pitch black. Can we just skip to the part where I'm used to it already? As if I'm not complaining enough, the weather out here has been crazy-- hot one day then cold and rainy the next-- making it difficult to figure out what to wear.

This super soft sweater has been perfect for those odd weather days, it's warm enough to keep the chill out but light enough to layer or wear along. When I say it's soft, it is so so SO soft! Review: SVELTA Luxe Coffee & Raw Sugar Body Scrub

SVELTA Luxe Coffee & Raw Sugar Body Scrub

As we're heading into spring and warmer weather, I want to start wearing more dresses and short sleeves but since my skin's been hiding under layers for the last few months, it's been looking a bit blah... until now. I recently started using SVELTA Luxe Body Scrub, made with natural coffee, raw sugar and oils, which has been a godsend for my dry, dull skin.

First, let's talk about the scent, which is amazing. If you love that warm, inviting scent of coffee then you will love this. The body scrub also contains  other natural ingredients such as cardamom oil (as one of the most expensive spices in the world, known as 'the queen of spices', is also an aphrodisiac) grapefruit extract and raw sugar to give it a luxe feel and olive oil and Vitamin E to help replenish and nourish dry skin.

To use, I simply use my fingers to scoop out the scrub and then apply to my body, massaging it into my skin to exfoliate. Tip- I recommend mixing the scrub before use as the oils may separate. I then shower off to reveal super smooth skin... seriously, I don't think my skin has ever felt so smooth and soft!

SVELTA Luxe Coffee & Raw Sugar Body Scrub

If you're on the hunt for a truly luxe exfoliation experience, I highly recommend this scrub for getting that natural glowing skin.

Have you ever tried a coffee body scrub? Let me know!

Currently Obsessed... March Beauty Edition

A Good Hue's March Beauty Favorites featuring BECCA, IT Cosmetics, and Bite Beauty

Over New Year's weekend I decluttered the stash of makeup I was hoarding and threw out old items, gave away some items and tried to use what I had before buying anything new. Operative word being 'try'. Basically I made space for new makeup... I can't help it!

After trying the BECCA Radiant Glow Collection (review here), I have become obsessed with their highlighters and just had to try the super popular, usually sold-out   BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. This gorgeous gold highlight makes my cheeks just pop, reflecting the light perfectly and giving a very pretty glow. The formula is incredibly smooth and soft with a creamy-like quality although it is a powder. While I think this shade is so pretty, I actually think Moonstone looks better on my skin tone-- still a winner though!

Another product that I was super curious about is the BECCA Brow Contour Mousse, which is a brow definer and highlight duo in one. The mousse applies easily, with just the perfect amount of color and helps my brows stay in place. The contour mousse is great for those with full brows, however I'm not sure if I would recommend it for anyone who needs to greatly fill in their brows. The second part of the duo is a highlight that you can apply to your brow bone and even above the brow to help define and highlight the brows.

I had received the IT Cosmetics CC+ Vitality Creme Blush from an event last year but forgot about until I cleaned out all my makeup and came across it. I'm a huge fan of cream blushes as they tend to blend into the skin nicer to give a more natural-looking flush than powder. This one is no exception, it applies easily, blends amazingly and the color is so pretty!

This week I received Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Beetroot, which is a vibrant deep berry shade that I am now borderline obsessed with. Not only is the color gorgeous & vibrant, but these lipsticks are super creamy. The Amuse Bouche Lipsticks are all handcrafted in small batches (are we talking beer or lipstick here??) and include 12 oils and super saturated pigments to give that bold color and help to hydrate lips while wearing. Stay tuned for a closer look at these gorgeous lipsticks soon.

Hotrose Multifunctional Makeup Brush Holder

I also picked out this multifunctional makeup brush holder on Amazon... for under $15! This case is amazing, it has room for all my different types of brushes-- powder, concealer, blush, eye shadow, you name it, it fits in here. The holder includes slots that keep the brushes in place and there's a mesh zippered pouch in the middle to hold any odd-sized brushes. Makeup brush organization and it's finest.
