I have a teeny obsession with makeup and beauty products, nothing serious, just a stash of powders, cream, shadows, liners and highlighters. Always highlighters. For as many products as I own though, many days I like to keep it simple, natural, and minimal. Here's how I created a minimal look using just five products>>
Before applying any makeup, I always start by prepping my skin with moisturizer. I have dry/combo skin so it needs to stay hydrated, especially on my cheeks and chin area. I then follow with a lightweight foundation or BB cream. Right now I've been loving
Physicians Formula #InstaReady BB Cream, which has good coverage, is easy to blend in, and looks really good on my skin. It has somewhat mattifying properties so I don't even feel the need to apply a powder over to set.
I will then dab on a concealer over areas that need a little extra help- under the eyes, the chin, around my nose, and to cover any icky zits that might have popped up. I like the coverage and formula of
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, although if I don't need much concealer help I will use one with lighter coverage.
Now, I can go without blush and I can go without bronzer but I cannot go without highlighter. I just can't do it! Using a fan brush, I will lightly sweep
BECCA Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured over the tops of my cheeks, around my eyes, on my browbone and even a touch on my cupid's bow to highlight my lips. The formula is creamy and blends easily giving a natural, radiant glow.
For eyes, I've been pretty much using my
Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette non-stop. The neutral palette contains a variety of shades-- lately I've been using the beige shade, and then lining my eyes with the darkest shade. Pretty, classic, and easy-peasy. To finish, I'll add a couple coats of mascara-- right now I've been reaching for
Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara, which makes my laashes look long and full.
Minimal can be better.
