Good HUES-Day: New Orleans Holiday Style

New Orleans Holiday: Plaid Shirt, Uniqlo Down Jacket and The Limited Jeans
Jacket: Uniqlo | Plaid Shirt: H&M | Skinny Jeans: The Limited | Ankle Boots: Sole Society | Crossbody Fringe Handbag: Target | Necklace: Stella & Dot

I had THE busiest travel week I ever had-- I visited Toronto, New York City, and New Orleans all within one week... whew! While I was in Toronto and NYC for work, New Orleans was all play. I met up with my aunt there for a long weekend to explore the French Quarter, try some yummy foods (like gumbo!) and sip some good drinks (my drink of choice was Pimm's Cup). We had a great time taking in the rich history and culture in New Orleans.

I didn't spend much time on Bourbon St. Yes, it was cool to check out, but not really my scene... unless I'm in a bar-hopping, lets-get-turnt kind-of mood. Although I did havee to get a hurricane... and no, I didn't get any beads! I did have fun exploring other areas of the French Quarter and loved the pretty Christmas decorations everywhere, especially hanging off the balconies and galleries. My aunt and I stayed at Hotel Monteleone, which was stunningly beautiful and had the fun carousel bar-- which is a bar merry-go-round that actually spins (incredibly slowly) while you sip your drinks, so cool!

We took a nighttime ghosts, vampires and voodoo tour with Witches Brew Tours (our guide was Rose-- she was fantastic and a super engaging storyteller!) and heard stories about Marie Laveau, Madame LaLaurie (creepy!), Lestat and more. I've done ghost tours in Charleston and Savannah as well and this one was the best yet. We also took a daytime carriage tour around the French Quarter and cemetary (the same one where Marie Laveau is entombed) and of course no trip to New Orleans is complete without a stop at Cafe Du Monde for beignets and cafe au lait. All in all I had a fabulous visit to New Orleans and can't wait to go again and discover more!

Have you been to New Orleans? What did you think? Any recommendations?
