Review: Foreo ISSA Electric Toothbrush

Hopefully you don't find it odd that I'm reviewing a toothbrush today. While I usually stick to beauty reviews, I thought this would be fitting as what's more beautiful than a great smile and more importantly, taking care of that great smile.

While I have always been good about my teeth, surprisingly, I've never been picky much about my toothbrush and usually just pick out whatever standard brush is cheaper, change it about every month or so, and not really giving it a second thought. As I've gotten older I have noticed more plaque buildup (ew, I know!) that wasn't brushing away as easily. Lucky for me, I had the chance to try out the new ISSA Toothbrush by Foreo from iFabbo. Unlike any other toothbrush (standard and electric) that I have ever tried, the modern ISSA features a gentle silicone brush head. Here's what I thought about it:

The toothbrush has an ergonomic, modern soft-touch design so that it fits comfortably in my hand and lightly vibrates to help get into the hard-to-reach places. I can adjust the settings to vibrate harder or softer to fit my preferences. My favorite feature of the toothbrush is that it signals every 30 seconds when it's time to move to the next quadrant. After two minutes, the toothbrush pulses, signifying the end of the brushing routine.

As with any toothbrush, I use my regular toothpaste and brush back and forth as I would a manual toothbrush. The silicone bristles are gentle on teeth and gums, designed to help prevent gum recession.

The ISSA is easy to turn on and use-- simply press the center 'power' button to turn on and adjust to one of 8 different speed settings with the '+' and '-' buttons.

Like any electric toothbrush, the silicone-bristled head is removable and should be replaced every year. Replacement heads are $25, which is not a bad price for lasting at least 12-months.

The electric toothbrush comes with a travel pouch for traveling and on-the-go-- you can even 'lock' the toothbrush so that it doesn't turn on while traveling. It also comes with a USB charger that I can easily plug into my iPhone wall charger. A single charge lasts about 6 months or 365 uses, which is great because you don't need to leave it on a charger or change batteries every other month.

At $199 the ISSA is on the more expensive side, however I think the investment is worth it in the long run. So far I have been happy with the experience and haven't once thought about switching back to my manual toothbrush. After using the ISSA for just a few weeks, my teeth already feel cleaner and I'm looking forward to seeing long-term results, especially in terms of gum recession. Happy smiling :)
