How-To: The Perfect Cat Eye with Max Factor

Max Faxtor Masterpiece MAX Mascara, Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eye Liner, Max Factor Lipstick

I love a good cat eye but practice really does make perfect when it comes to creating this sexy, glam  eye look. I've been doing them for years but I'll still mess up now and then, especially when attempting to make both eyes look even #makeupproblems. I make sure to keep concealer, makeup remover and some Q-Tips handy for those 'opps!' moments. It also helps to have a good liquid eyeliner.

Max Factor has just launched a limited edition collection to create a sexy cat eye look, which includes a liquid eyeliner, mascara and two lipstick shades. As the "father of makeup-up," Max Factor created the line around 1920 and was THE screen makeup of Hollywood's golden age, creating signature looks of Jean Harlow, Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner and more. Working with makeup artist Pat McGrath (yes, the master herself!), the Max Factor team developed this collection as a modern take on a classic glamorous look.

Ready to get the perfect (or shall I say, purr-fect?) cat eye? Follow the steps below!

Applying Max Factor Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eyeliner

Step 1: I start my cat eye by applying the Max Factor Masterpiece High Precision Liquid Eyeliner directly on my lid, starting at the inner corner of my eye. I start my line thin, then gradually thicken as I draw it across my lash line to the outer edge. The paddle-shaped felt tip makes the liner easy to control for a precise cat eye, whether you want a thin or thick line.

Beginner tip: Use an eyeliner pencil to draw a light line and then go over with the liquid liner.

Step 2: To create the wing, start lifting the liner just before the end and gradually draw it out towards the end of your eyebrow. If you mess up, you can always use a q-tip and makeup remover to fix.

Step 3: Once I have the wing where I want, I then create a triangle from the tip of the wing down to the corner of my eye and fill in. I'll then go back and thicken my liner if need be. Now the hard part... do the same on the other eye.

Step 4: Complete the cat eye look by applying the Max Factor Masterpiece MAX Mascara to lashes. Apply the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick (I'm wearing Maroon Dust, a rosy pink nude, here) and the look is complete!

Tell me, are you a cat eye master?

  1. Great tips! I had no idea Max Factor has been around for this long and worked with great names to create the looks of amazing actresses. What I would pay to go back in time and see this in the making. I would love if you can link up to http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2016/08/07/mens-watches-outfit-personality/
