How-To: Nighttime Face Washing Routine with Olay Daily Facials Cleansing Cloths

Even though I'm a full-face makeup wearer, since high school I've been fairly consistent with paying special attention to my skin and taking care of it to look it's best. With a full-time job, blogging and constantly being on-the-go though, by the end of a long day I'm usually just too tired for a full skin care regimen, which should include a face cleanser, exfoliator or face scrub, using a makeup remover and then applying toner. Whew, I'm getting tired just thinking about all the steps! I need something easy and fuss-free before heading to bed.

Lucky for me, that's where Olay Daily Facials Daily Clean 4-in-1 Water Activated Cleansing Cloths come in. These cleansing cloths are not just your ordinary face wipes-- they deeply clean skin to remove makeup, dirt and oil. They are textured to help exfoliate skin, removing dead skin or stuck-on makeup and also help to tone the skin. The formula is ultra-hydrating and conditioning, acting similar to the benefits of a facial mask. Pretty awesome, right?

The cleansing cloths are packaged dry, meaning they require water to activate. This is especially great for traveling or stashing a couple in your bag for on-the-go or to use at the gym. Simply run under the faucet and then rub together to create a lather. Wipe over entire face, including the eye area, and then rinse off using a damp cloth. These innovative cloths are extremely gentle, making them safe to use in the eye area and are fantastic at removing stubborn eye makeup, even mascara!

After using the cleansing cloths, my feels smooth, deeply clean and hydrated, not dry and tight which typically happens when I use other wipes. With a towel, I gently pat my entire face dry, not using scrubbing or pulling motions which can irritate skin or pull on the skin.

To finish my nighttime routine, I apply a moisturizer or nighttime facial oil to keep my skin hydrated all night long. By keeping to a nighttime face washing routine I find that my skin continues to look healthy, brighter and overall feels better! These wipes can be used in lieu of your daytime cleanser as well and are especially good for those #NoMakeupRequired type of days when I go makeup free but still want fab looking skin. You can find more information and shop for the cleansing cloths here.

Tell me, have you ever tried Olay Daily Facials?

Recipe File: The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Chewy on the inside, crispy around the edges. That's how I like my chocolate chip cookies. Growing up I usually made (or rather helped make) the recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag (anyone else??) Over the years I've tried a few different recipes, some good and some total fails. Then I found the recipe for the best chocolate chip cookies. No joke. These cookies are yummy and just the way I like them- soft and chewy in the center with crispy, crunchy edges. Perfection.

Here's how to get the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies...

How-To Use Beauty Facial Oils

How-To Use: Beauty Facial Oils

While browsing around online today :cough: wasting time :cough: I came across a pic of Chandler and Monica's wedding... saying that they would be celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary! Is that not nuts?!? I felt so old reading that... has it really been that long? Holy guacamole.

Even though I'm over 30, I like to think that I can pass for mid-twenties still. Since I was a teenager I've been pretty good with skin care-- washing my face and making sure to use moisturizer, especially since my skin can get dry. For the past couple years I have also been using oils more and more to help hydrate and give my skin a radiant look. I started with a pure argan oil and my oil collection has immensely grown since. Here's a few oils (all under $25!) that I have currently been loving:

Physicians Formula Bright Booster Oil Elixir: This has become one of my favorite daytime oils that I can wear on it's own, or under makeup. This lightweight elixir includes a mix of mongongo oil & rhodiola extract that helps to not only hydrate skin but helps it look more radiant. If you hate greasy feelings, you'll like this oil because it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feel. Plus, it has a nice soft lavender scent.

Pixi Rose Oil Blend: Out of all the oils I have, I think this one has my favorite scent- like a fresh bouquet of roses, but not in an overpowering way. This oil blends sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils that work together to nourish the complexion and help preserve youth... at least I hope it does. It feels so nice on skin-- luxurious and smoothing- it makes my skin feel super soft.

Perfectly Posh Call It a Night Nighttime Oil: Another mix, I apply this oil just before bed so it can work its hydrating magic overnight. It contains oils like jojoba, lavender (which is great for helping to promote restfulness!), rosemary, evening primrose oils and botanical extracts such as green tea which packs some antioxidant power.

Physicians Formula Illuminating Argan Oil: A twist on the pure argan oil, this illuminating oil includes soft specks of shimmer that really give my skin a glowing finish. I love pairing this oil with foundation-- either applying it before the foundation OR mixing it directly into my foundation. To be honest, this oil looks a bit scary- like its packed full of glitter- but don't let that deceive you. When applying, the shimmer is light and just blends effortlessly into skin leaving a very pretty glow. I definitely recommend giving this one a try!

While my skin is on the drier side and I tend to use them for moisturizing benefits but did you know that facial oils can be good for oily skin as well? Some oils are great for oily skin and even acne prone skin as well. Reach for jojoba, argan or marula oils and other plant-based oils to give skin a radiant glow and reap the antioxidant benefits of these oils.

Tell me, do you use facial oils? If so, what's your fave?

Red Florals in Napa + LINKUP

Dress: Banana Republic (similar styles here and here) | Sandals: JustFab | Purse: Kate Spade New York (similar style) | Sunglasses: Kate Spade New York

Ah, this week has been crazy busy! I've been working on a big project at work- a video shoot- and the shoot is this week! It's been a lot of work to coordinate (and stress!) but I can't wait to see it come alive, fingers crossed all goes well.

This week I'm all about the bold colors, such as the vibrant red of this dress that I wore in Napa a few weeks ago. Even though this dress is from last year, it's still one of my favorites for adding a punch of color. For more styling ideas, you can see how I wore it here.

Citrus Orange Margarita for Cinco de Mayo

Citrus Orange Margarita

Like most, my first experience with tequila was not a good one. At all. I was about 16 or 17 and took a few regrettable shots (most likely in secret, sorry mom!) during a family party. I feel like most people have had an oh-no moment with tequila, right?? To this day I still cannot take a shot of tequila straight, however I will enjoy a good margarita every now and then.

Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo and what better to pair your tacos and nachos with than a yummy, refreshing citrusy orange margarita? A twist on the classic lime margarita, this one has bold citrus flavors with the perfect blend of tart from the citrus and sweetness from the agave. Yum, yum!

Citrus Orange Margarita
Ingredients
1 cup Tequila (preferrably silver- this type of tequila is best for margaritas!)
1/2 cup Orange Juice
1 cup Lime Juice
2-4 tbsp Agave Sweetener (more or less depending on how sweet you want it, I like my margaritas on the sour side)
Orange or Clementine Slices, for garnish
Margarita Salt, for garnish

Mix the first four ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Taste and add more agave sweetener if desired.

Moisten the rim of the glass with an orange slice and then dip the glass rim into the margarita salt. Add ice to the glass and pour margarita over ice. Garnish with orange slice. ¡Salud!

Note: This recipe would be fantastic with a smoke-infused or  jalapeƱo-infused tequila for an extra kick!

Floral Romper + Napa Wine Tasting

Forever21 Floral Romper Under $10
Floral Romper: Forever21 (similar) | Denim Jacket: H&M | Tassel Sandals: JustFab | Fringe Bag: Target (similar here) | Wrap Bracelet: Gorjana | Necklace: Stella & Dot

After a busy last few weeks and a short break, I am back on the grind with A Good Hue. At the end of April and just before my birthday, we spent a long weekend up in the Bay Area hanging out in Napa and a quick stop in San Francisco. While we were up in Napa the weather was absolutely incredible-- sunny but not too hot, and just perfect for sipping some wines. One of the wineries we visited in Inglenook, which was originally started in 1879 and was later bought by Francis Ford Coppola. The winery doesn't disappoint in terms of views, grandeur and wines (of course!). If anyone is planning a trip to Napa soon, I highly recommend stopping  here. I'll be sharing a few more of my Napa musts in a guide here on A Good Hue soon :P

What pairs best on warm days and a glass of wine? Rompers, duh! Okay, maybe not but it worked out on this day. Keep reading to see more of this outfit and find out the amazing price I scored this romper for!

Makeup Monday: Multi-Misting with Pixi Face Mists

Pixi Beauty Face Mists

Happy May all! I'm almost not too sure if I should talk about warm weather skin care or cold weather. It's been in the upper 80's here in SoCal but I saw the midwest was covered in snow... wha?!? I figured I better stick to a new trend that anyone can enjoy, anytime, depending on what your skin care needs are.  Have you ever heard of multi-misting?

Multi-misting is basically layering your face mists to reap the most skin care benefits and nourishment, which is awesome because A) It's super easy- just a few spritz here and there and B) It's a lightweight way to get all your skin care benefits, no heavy moisturizers and serums. Pixi has several face mists in their collection that can be mixed and matched depending on your skin care needs. Here's a peek at my multi-misting routine and why you need to get on the multi-misting train:

Vitamin Wakeup Mist: This lovely mist is infused with energizing orange blossom and citrus extracts to help wake up and perk up skin, which is especially helpful in the morning when any extra perk is much appreciated. This mist helps to tone the skin and revitalize your complexion, while cooling and refreshing the skin.

Hydrating Milky Mist: This one sounds odd (milky mist??) but it's actually one of my favorite face mists. This mist-on moisturizer It gives my normal-dry skin an extra dose of hydration and leaves it feeling moisturized and soft. This mist contains hyaluronic acid which helps to plump the skin to make it look supple and healthy. This is perfect to use just after washing (you can use it as a nighttime treatment, too!) or after using the Vitamin Wakeup Mist.

Glow Mist: Before applying my makeup and after letting the Hydrating Milky Mist absorb, I will then give my skin a spritz of the Pixi Glow Mist to give it a healthy-looking glow. This mist is enriched with 21 natural oils, fruit extracts, argan oil and aloe vera to help soothe skin. I love how it instantly gives my skin a luminous look-- I will also spritz this mist after washing my face in the evening for an extra dose of glow.

Makeup Fixing Mist: Finally, after apply my makeup I reach for the Makeup Fixing Mist to set my makeup. If you have oilier skin, I would recommend this mist as it helps keep everything in place. This mist is non-sticky and has good-for-skin ingredients like rose water and green tea to help give skin nourishment.

I love that each of these has a fine mist sprayer, meaning you'll get a perfect spray of mist over your entire face. Each of these mists are $15 and can be used throughout the day as a refresher.  Which mist is your pick? Tell me!
